The present work derives the distribution or the time required to remove a fixed number of elements W<N treating the problem as a pure death process with general death rate µn and initial number of elements N. The mean and variance of the distribution time are also obtained. The special case W,-N is considered. Sobel and el (1985) turns out to be a special case of our results.
