Abstract

Smoking as a cause of lung cancer has been expressed by a number of authors, and reflected in some public announcements. This paper introduces a new model for the dose-response relationship between smoking and lung cancer. A statistical method is given to subdivide the data into two groups which may be considered as light smokers and heavy smokers, and thus a probability model has been developed. This model is shown to be an appropriate model for the given data, despite the fact that it not enough for a sound conclusion to be achieved.
