This paper is devoted to the derivation of limiting forms for the inverse moments of the positive binomial and Poisson variables. The method adopted depends on getting successive upper and lower limits for the first inverse moment, which leads to an appropriate limit, when n (number of trials of the binomial) and m (the Poisson parameter) are large. Numerical values show that the approximation is good under the above stated conditions, and is better than the one stated by Grab and Savage in [1].
