We obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for a life distribution to follow a mixture of two Weibulls as well as Maxwell distributions. Our results extend particular results of Khan et. al. (1983) regarding Weibull distributions and the result of Nassar and Mahmoud (1985) regarding mixture of two exponentials. A characterization of a mixture of two Rayleigh distributions follows as a special case.
