It is very common in practice that the sample is grouped ,i. e., the grouping of samples is a very common procedure, and the midpoint of each class is used as an approximate value to these observations falling in the corresponding interval. This article is concerned with a new maximum likelihood estimator for the unknown parameters of the generalized Weibull distribution, based on grouped progressive censored type I sample scheme. The new results may be considered as an approximation to that of Ashour, et., al. (2003) results. A numerical illustration using Mathcad (2001) package will be given.
